MIV TMJ System

CBCT-based TMJ analysis in one structured workflow.

MIV TMJ is desktop software designed to support dental professionals in the analysis of selected temporomandibular joint parameters using CBCT imaging data in DICOM format.

The system combines automated image analysis, anatomical landmark detection, segmentation, reference-plane calculation and selected TMJ measurements in a single environment. Automatically generated outputs remain subject to review and verification by a qualified healthcare professional.

01 / System

From CBCT data to structured TMJ measurements.

MIV TMJ interface with CBCT 2D and 3D views

MIV TMJ processes CBCT DICOM datasets and supports the user in reviewing selected anatomical structures, landmarks, reference planes and quantitative parameters of the temporomandibular joints.

The application is intended to organize the analysis process rather than replace the clinician. The user remains responsible for verifying image quality, the anatomical correctness of automatically generated landmarks and segmentations, and the clinical interpretation of the results.

The software can work with a DICOM series or a supported single DICOM file containing the complete CBCT volume required for analysis.

02 / Workflow

A structured analysis process from image import to report.

01

Import DICOM

Load a CBCT DICOM series or a supported single-file dataset.

02

Automated processing

The system performs image processing, segmentation and automatic landmark analysis.

03

Quality verification

Potential limitations related to image quality, FOV or anatomical visibility are communicated to the user.

04

Review & correction

Verify the image, reference planes, segmentation and anatomical landmarks before accepting the result.

05

Measurements & report

Review selected right/left TMJ measurements and generate the structured graphical report.

03 / Capabilities

Core system capabilities

01

Import and processing of CBCT imaging datasets in DICOM format.

02

Automated segmentation of selected anatomical structures.

03

Automatic identification of selected anatomical landmarks.

04

Calculation and presentation of selected reference planes and axes.

05

Selected angular and linear TMJ measurements, including radiological joint-space parameters.

06

Separate presentation and comparison of right and left TMJ parameters.

07

Manual verification and correction of automatically generated anatomical landmarks.

08

Structured graphical presentation and export of the analysis report.

04 / Analysis

Visual review and quantitative outputs.

2D and 3D review

The user can review CBCT sections and the 3D visualization together with selected reference planes and anatomical landmarks. Automated results should be checked against the source image before further interpretation.

MIV TMJ graphical analysis output

Structured measurements

The system presents selected angular and linear measurements in a structured form, allowing the clinician to review individual parameters and compare the right and left joints.

05 / Output

A report that documents the analysis.

MIV TMJ analysis report

The final report combines selected measurements, right/left side information and graphical reference views in one document.

The report is intended to support documentation and professional assessment. It does not provide an autonomous diagnosis and should not be used as the sole basis for a clinical or therapeutic decision.

Professional verification required

All automatically generated outputs should be reviewed by a qualified user in the context of the source CBCT data, clinical examination, symptoms and medical history.

06 / Platforms

Available for Windows and macOS.

Desktop software for professional workstations.

MIV TMJ is available as a desktop application for Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS / OS X. The appropriate installer can be downloaded from the MIV TMJ user account after registration and activation of the licence.

  • Microsoft Windows
  • Apple macOS / OS X
  • Desktop and laptop computers
  • Local CBCT DICOM workflow
  • Account and active licence required

The same clinical workflow is available on both supported desktop platforms.

Processing time depends on the size and resolution of the CBCT dataset and the available hardware resources. Users should work on a supported computer configuration and use an appropriate monitor for reviewing CBCT images and anatomical landmarks.

The software is not intended for operation on smartphones or other mobile devices.
